How to build an Article?

Creating & Editing an Article

Now you can easily create an Article that contains visual, audio, and video elements. When you add a new article, it opens in Edit mode. There, you can add and edit texts and multimedia elements of your choice. At any given time, you can preview the Article, by using View mode. Be sure that everything you do is saved before switching this mode.

Building an Article using multimedia Elements

To build an Article you use Elements (Add Element: at the bottom of the page in Edit mode). There are 4 types of Elements: Text, Picture, Audio and Video. This allows you to bring out a typical article text, or a blog-like post. You can also publish an Article that consists only from one video-file with a caption becoming video post as known from YouTube and others. It is entirely up to you what your Articles will consist of and how they will look like.

There is no limit to the number of Elements you can use in one Article, but we suggest to stay reasonable. The more Elements, the longer time is needed to open an Article.

Arranging order of Elements

Once a number of Elements are created, you can easily arrange their order by dragging them or using "up" and "down" arrows at the right-down corner of an Element . While using Drag&Drop option be sure to remain within the Element column with your mouse pointer, as, in some browsers, going outside it does not allow an Element to nest in a new place. In the upper-right corner there is a delete sign that allows you to remove the whole Element all together.

Media size and formats

There are limits to the size of files you can upload, as well as to the file format supported. As a general rule, try to limit your media to a maximum size of 14 MB per piece. The smaller the file, the faster your Article will open to a reader.

Over time, CoachingValley.com will be increasing the number of formats supported to include all major and commonly used ones. Right now, we start with .jpg/.png formats for pictures, and .flv for video and .mp3 for audio.

Language of an Article

By default, the language of an Article is the language of the interface you have chosen. It might however happen that you write an Article in a different language. In such case, make sure you use a drop-down list of languages at the top-left corner of an Article in an Edit mode. There you can set the language of this Article, so it will appear once someone is searching for Articles in this particular language.

Publishing an Article

To make an Article visible to others, you have to publish it. You can do that at the top of the Article (Published/Not Published toggle) or on the page where you manage all of your Articles. As long as an Article is not published, it does not appear in the public list of your Articles.
